Cindy Koebele started TitleSmart, Inc. in 2007 during the collapse of the housing bubble. Her intense focus on creating a positive customer experience turned TitleSmart into one of the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies in America for the past three years. TitleSmart currently has 23 closers and more than 70 staff members in seven locations throughout the Twin Cities.
Cindy was named the winner of the 2016 American Business Awards Silver Stevie Award for Executive of the Year – Insurance and Financial Services, following other entrepreneur awards such as the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Upper Midwest in 2015. Her unique approach to business and a positive mindset have kept TitleSmart profitable year after year. Her revenue growth rate of 160.31% has gotten the attention of the small business community and has led TitleSmart to such honors as being recognized as a Small Business Success Story Honoree by Twin Cities Business Magazine in 2014.
TitleSmart embodies Cindy’s mentality that closing on your house should be a positive, fun and upbeat experience. The company is raising the bar for the level of service people should expect, and customers are taking notice. TitleSmart conducted 9,200 closings and achieved nearly $10.5 million in revenue in 2017.
Born to be an Entrepreneur
Cindy brought a childhood passion for entrepreneurship to the title insurance industry when she began working in an administrative role in the production department of a title insurance company in the 80s. She quickly moved into closing and after several years in the industry, realized there was an opportunity to bring a higher level of service to residential and corporate clients. A born observer of people, Cindy’s curiosity along with her many travels and studies of different cultures contribute to her ability to find common ground with almost anyone. She uses this skill to read her customers and create customized interactions with them and to provide valuable small business advice and resources to other entrepreneurs.
Children’s Book Author
In addition to her work at TitleSmart, Cindy is the author of two children’s books, Puppa-na-wuppana: the Beagle with the Magical Nose, and Puppa-na-wuppana: Living the Puppa-na-Life, based on the adventures of her family’s curious beagle. She frequently visits local schools and libraries to read her books and promote a love of reading in young kids.
Commitment to the Community
Cindy serves on the board of directors for Spare Key, a nonprofit that provides housing grant assistance to parents with a seriously ill or critically injured child. In addition, TitleSmart is a consistent supporter of the Ronald McDonald House and sponsor of the ALS Super Hero Dash.
